About the area
-
Situated like a jeweled necklace against North Carolina's southernmost stretch of coastline, the Brunswick Islands total 45 miles of sugary beaches. Located midway between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, S.C., these beaches - Caswell, Oak Island, Holden, Ocean Isle and Sunset - are considered the northernmost points of the subtropical climate. A sixth island, Bald Head, to the north, is accessible only by boat. Nearby port towns Calabash, Shallotte and Southport boast many attractions for vacationers who wish to hit the mainland for a day.
